The Good Neighbor project is a way to help others within our church community. It may seem that everyone in our church has everything they need and has the ability to pay for what they need done. However, often there are Beargrass members, especially the elderly and those in poor health, who need help with small projects such as hooking up a TV, moving to a new apartment, doing yard work and providing transportation to a medical appointment. You do not need to have some extraordinary talent or ability, just a little time and the desire to help a fellow church member. You do not have to commit to a specific number of hours or to a certain time. Each request is unique, and you can choose those that match your available time and ability.
Those who express an interest in the Good Neighbor Project provide an email address and a list is compiled. When people need help, they call the church office and explain what help they need. An “e-mail blast” is sent to all on the list, explaining what help is needed. If someone can help, that person sends a “return-to-all” email, which lets everyone else on the list know someone has volunteered. The person who requested the help is contacted and arrangements are made to provide the needed help.
