Habitat for Humanity of Metro Louisville has been building houses, improving neighborhoods, and giving families a ladder to a better life for 25 years. Beargrass has been involved in this Christian-based housing organization for most of that time. Volunteers from our church have helped build houses, drive trucks, paint, landscape, work at the ReStore, or serve as advocates for families who are working toward owning their own home. In addition, the church makes a substantial monetary contribution each year. Habitat built or rehabbed 300 houses during its first 25 years, and it hopes to build its next 300 in less than 10 years. The emphasis is on the families Habitat serves, not the houses themselves, but it will take many extra volunteers and resources to realize this ambitious goal.
