God, Make Us Whole
Worship and Reflection

February 29–March 28

Wednesday evenings in Lent will offer the opportunity for worship and reflection on the ways God works with our broken places to make us whole. Each week will begin with a short worship service in the chapel, followed by a breakout time for reflection groups. Group leaders include Susan Lowe and John Hull. The groups will then reconvene for a community sending forth. Kelley Dick will lead a youth series on the same themes in the youth space. Focus scriptures will be drawn from the Gospel of Mark. The themes include

Week 2: In a Rut  . . . Imagination
Week 3: Apathy . . . Compassion
Week 4: Chaos . . . Peace
Week 5: Brokenness . . . Wholeness

Join with other youth across the state during the weekend for a camp-wide cleanup.
This is a great way to see camp for the first time, hang out with old camp friends, meet new friends, and give back to the camp that gives so much during the summer.

Worship, great food, and a beautiful atmosphere are guaranteed!
Fun will always happen! All youth in grades 6-12 are invited.

Tear Down The Walls Ministry

TDWM is a homeless assistance, outreach, and service ministry. Its purpose is to find ways to partner with and for the homeless in downtown Indianapolis. Check them out at www.tdwm.org. Sign up online by March 1, 2012.

Discovering Opportunities for
Outreach and Reflection

DOOR is faith opportunities for service, learning, and leadership development within the urban context. Opportunities to serve in Atlanta may include interacting with homeless people at shelters and soup kitchens, making and delivering meals for homebound AIDS and cancer patients, working with folks with mental and physical disabilities, sorting food and clothes at distribution centers, visiting with senior citizens, hearing the stories of the civil rights movement, or just walking through neighborhoods and becoming acquainted with people and places. Sign up online by March 1, 2012.

The Spring 2012 Newcomers Class will be Sunday, March 4, 11, and 18, at 10:00 am in the Chapel. The class offers an introduction to the Christian Church (Disciples of Christ) and the mission and ministries of Beargrass Christian Church. I recommend the class to anyone who is looking for a church home and supportive Christian community.

For convenience, I will also offer the class on Wednesday evenings on March 7, 14, and 21, at 6:30 pm in the Conference Room. Childcare is available. If you would like more information or would like to register for the class, please call the church office at 896-1161 or email Leigh Bond.

Have you ever heard “Sticks and stones may break your bones but words will never hurt me?” I’m sure we all have, but truth of the matter is, sometimes words hurt more than sticks and stones. During Lent join me on a Journey in the Youth Space. We will look at words of brokenness and move to words of healing. In a world that is busy and chaotic, come take some time and just be in the presence of God and one another during our next session of Bible Studies; Word Words Words; A Journey.
