The luncheon will be in Chalice Hall following the 11:00 am service. The pastoral care team and many in our congregation  have met with our Greatest Generation folks to hear their stories, to hear the life and faith lessons that they have learned over the years, to hear a little of who they are as a part of Beargrass’ wonderful and rich history. Stories (and we hope pictures) will be compiled in a book which will be printed and given to our guests at the luncheon (church members will be able to get a copy for a small amount as well). We are excited to celebrate our Greatest Generation as they continue to share their love for God in and through Beargrass!

Do you like to meet new friends? If so, you’re qualified. We’re organizing some small group get-togethers at Beargrass. The idea is to gather groups of 6-9 people from the church for two meals during the summer. A designated host within the gorup will arrange for a time and place to meet and eat––either at someone’s home, the church, or a local restaurant. Group assignments will be coordinated through the office and folks of all ages and stages––singles and couples and families––are welcome to participate! The DWM Sunshine Circle will offer members an opportunity to honor their mothers and fathers through the Church World Service’s Blankets+ Project. Please stop by our table located in the Gathering Space to purchase pink and blue hearts by making a $5 donation per heart, then write the names of your parents on the hearts and pin them to the blanket hanging behind the table. All proceeds go to Church World Service for use in purchasing blankets and other items such as tents, food, water, and the tools and materials needed for rebuilding homes.

Register online for VBS.

Vacation Bible School will take place June 24-28 from 6:00-8:30 pm each evening. Most nights will include an opening gathering, snack supper, music, crafts, Bible stories, and science activities. The last night will include a family potluck, music concert, and carnival! This year’s theme is Operation Overboard: Dare to Dive Deep with God.

The Children’s Ministry Team is currently planning a wonderful experience for all children but we need volunteers to help make it happen! If you are interested in helping with any aspect of VBS, please contact Steven Straub.

Registration is based on the grade completed in spring 2012, and all preschool children must have turned 4 by June 1 to participate.

We are excited to follow up a successful 2011 season with another packed summer at the market. We have some exciting new vendors and we have many great events planned this year. There will be weekly chef demonstrations of market products conducted by Sullivan Universities Culinary School. The youth will be selling Rooibee Red Tea each week at the market to help raise money for their upcoming mission trips. We look forward to seeing everyone at the market this year!

The Children’s Choir will present the musical “Once Upon a Parable” on Sunday, May 20, at 6:30 pm. Our children’s choirs will take you on an adventure through some of Jesus’ most loved parables. You won’t want to miss their version of the Prodigal Son or the Good Samaritan. The evening will end with a very moving version of the Parable of the Vineyard. So let the children of Beargrass lead you for this one night. It is an evening that you will not want to miss.
