Daniel Spurlock, Director of Music
As Music Director, Daniel oversees the music program at Beargrass. His primary focus is serving as director of the Beargrass Choir and the church’s special music program. Daniel holds Bachelor and Master of Music degrees from Juilliard. He has appeared as conductor or double-bassist with orchestras around the country as well as many of the world’s top artists in both the classical and pops music genre. Daniel was the principal double-bassist of the Louisville Orchestra for over 28 years and is currently the Music Director of the Louisville Chorus.
Meg Blackwell, Director of Children’s and Chi Rho Choirs
Meg became director for our children’s choir in fall 1996 and also directors our Chi Rho Choir. Meg graduated from Transylvania University with a Bachelor’s Degree in Music Education and from the University of Louisville with a Master of Secondary Education in Choral Music.
Rebecca Greenwell, Saturday Service Music Leader
Becky directs our music at the 5:30 pm Saturday service and is a section leader and soloist in the Beargrass Choir.
Tim Harper, Praise Team Director
Tim is the Praise Team Director for our 8:45 am worship service and leads the Youth Praise team. He is a published song writer and video producer. He’s played professionally on three instruments and worked internationally in music
Steven Straub, Handbell Director
Steven holds a Bachelors in math and history from Washington and Lee University and a Masters in Education from Indiana University Southeast. In addition to being the Director of Children’s Ministries, he also directs handbells for adults and children. Steven grew up at Beargrass and has been on the staff since 2000.
Denise Whittington, Organist
Denise is the organist for the 5:30 pm and 11:00 am worship services. She holds degrees in piano performance and music education from the University of Missouri-Columbia and a Master of church Music from Southern Baptist Theological Seminary. Denise is pursuing a Doctor of Music Arts Degree at Cincinnati Conservatory of Music.
